The company is betting big on a new wave of Internet-connected cars that will soon be available to the public.
Axios Chief Technology Officer Alex Deane said he and other Axios investors will bet $100 million on the company that will build a car that can run itself on a battery pack and charge itself in seconds.
The company, called ZEV, was founded by two engineers from the University of Virginia.
Its first prototype car, the XTR, has been built at the Virginia Tech campus.
The XTR is a vehicle that uses a battery to run on its own.
The company says the Xtr’s battery can run for hours and can go from zero to 100 miles per hour.
Its batteries are designed to last for at least 50,000 miles.
But the Xtra will be the first vehicle that has a fully electric drivetrain, with the vehicle’s battery fully charged, Deane told CNBC’s “Squawk Box.”
The Xtra has been designed to be an affordable car.
The cars can be bought for $40,000.
Deane said the company is not making any money on the car and is focused on getting the Xtru to market as soon as possible.
He said the car is expected to be on sale in the next few weeks.
The $100-million bet comes as the Internet of Things is taking off.

The ZEV car, a version of which will be available for purchase, is based on the Tesla Roadster.
This car has a range of between 30 and 80 miles on a single charge.
The Roadster is a full electric vehicle, which means it can go up to 50 miles on one charge.
This new car will have two lithium ion batteries in it.
The first battery will be a lithium ion, which Deane says has the same capacity as the Tesla battery, and the second battery will have a lithium polymer.
This battery is a little bigger than a cell phone battery.
The batteries in the XTD will be capable of storing enough power to go from 0 to 100 mph in just three seconds.
The batteries in this vehicle can be charged in two minutes.
The XTD is designed to have the highest capacity in a car.
Deans claims the ZEV vehicle will have the same range as the Roadster, but it will be able to go longer distances on a charge.
In other words, the ZTD will go from the freeway to the shopping center and back.
The car will also have a range in excess of 100 miles.
The battery pack in this car is going to be the same size as a cell-phone battery.
It will have 3,500mAh capacity.
The size of this battery pack is not expected to change in the near future.
The ZTD is expected only to be available in limited quantities, Deanes said.
The technology in this new car is so revolutionary, the company will go on to say it’s “going to be a game changer.”
It is expected that the company and the Roadsters will sell 500,000 XTDs in the first year of sales.
In addition to selling the ZTE vehicle, the car will be sold through the ZX brand, a brand that includes the Roadstops.
The goal is to have 500,0000 ZTDs sold in the U.S. in 2019.
The roadster is the brainchild of Deane and two former Virginia Tech students, Alex C. Devereaux and Ryan G. Smith.
The two men co-founded the company in 2017.ZEV, as it’s known, has no name yet.
The name is a portmanteau of the word “ZEV” and the word car.
It has no logo yet.
