The president promised to build a wall along the US-Mexico border on his first day in office, telling reporters he would get “the funding, the funding” to make the project happen.
Trump had previously said the wall would be funded with “a little bit of a tax,” and he said in September he was looking to have a wall built by the end of this year.
Trump’s press secretary Sean Spicer said on Monday that the president is planning on building the wall with funds from Congress.
“He wants to get it done in the first 100 days of his presidency,” Spicer said.
“And he has been clear, he’s been very clear, that he will have a great wall.”
Trump has also promised to spend billions of dollars to rebuild the border and build a border wall between Mexico and the US.
He has also pledged to build the wall along most of the US border with Mexico, but has not said exactly where he will begin.
