Walmart is making a big splash at the Supercenter in the Bay Area, where its brand-new Supercenter stores are opening in the next two weeks.
The retailer announced Thursday that it is opening three stores in the San Jose area, in the Santa Clara neighborhood of North Park, the San Francisco Bay Area and the Santa Barbara, California, area.
Walmart is offering discounted furniture to customers who buy its Supercenter.
The stores will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., and they will be offering merchandise and accessories to those who want to shop online, the retailer said.
The first Supercenter store opens at the Santa Cruz store on Thursday, which is in the North Park neighborhood, according to the retailer.
The store has more than 400 employees and stores more than 300,000 square feet of merchandise.
The second store opens on Friday at the San Bruno Supercenter, which was formerly known as the San Carlos Supercenter before the Super Center was built.
The company said the store is in a new shopping center at the intersection of Interstate 5 and Highway 101 in Santa Cruz.
Walmart also is opening two stores in North Park and two in the Sacramento area, the company said.

Walmart has made a name for itself by offering low prices on some items.
Its first Supercenters were at Costco, Home Depot, and HomeAway, among others.
The Supercenter has become a hotbed of shopping.
The first Super Center opened in Seattle in 2003, and it has since expanded to include stores in Chicago, Denver, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and New York.
The chain also has a Supercenter outlet in each of the states it operates in: California, Texas, Florida, Georgia, Nevada, Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona and Washington.
